How awesome that two publishers have approached you! That's great and well WORTH considering. There are benefits to going either way.
It's good to be aware that a publisher will require a signed contract. So, once you sign a contract, self-publishing is no longer likely to be an option. If you don't want to take the length of time needed for traditional publishing, it's worth considering self publishing.

Hi Sandy,
Love CBI. . .great people and such a great resource but I must admit, haven't been active in their online community in a while. Thank you so much for this self-publishing info page and Finding an Agent. So well laid out and helpful.

I've been approached by two publishers who want me to be a "contributing author" in the publishing of my first Children's book, so it does make me think if going traditional takes too long, self-publishing might be an option worth considering.

It sounds like you've got a great start, Tony. A publisher will professionally edit your book if you decide to go with a traditional publisher. If you self publish, then paying to have your book professionally edited would be wise! I contracted with an editor on eLance and know that Fiverr has editors-for-hire. Good luck with your book! :-D

My name is Tony Gapper and I live in Ballinrobe, Co Mayo, Ireland. I have recently finished a children's manuscript, entitled: Percy Panda. My target audience is 7-10 year olds, with a word count of circa 11,000.
I just completed an M.A. (Writing) at NUI, Galway in August 2015, having already published 50 poems and flash fiction.
I am currently looking at both traditional and self-publishing routes. My friends and family are very impressed with the book; and although my wife and I have edited it many times over, as yet, it has not been professionally edited and marketed in readiness for publication.
I am on Facebook, Twitter and have my own website - although it has not got a domain name or web host yet.
Maybe I could email you a taster of my writing.
Any information/advice gladly welcomed.

Much appreciated
